| Sara Fischer Director sfischer@phillyhillel.org Sara came to the United States from her native England for a year, six years ago. After working at Cornell Hillel, Sara decided that she loved working with Jewish students, but didn’t love the four feet of snow that accumulated outside her door from November to April while living in Ithaca, NY. Moving to San Francisco, Sara had the opportunity to work with students in a multi-campus Hillel. Moving to Philly in 2004, Sara became Philly Hillel director in 2005. Sara lives in the ‘burbs with her husband Bruce and adorable daughter, Leah. | |
![]() | Judah Ferst Program Director jferst@templehillel.com Originally from Philadelphia, Judah spent four years attending the George Washington University in Washington DC where he majored in Human Services and minored in geography (qualifying him to do absolutely nothing). During his free time Judah can be found working on his pottery at The Clay Studio and shaving his head for kids with cancer. He is an Aquarius, but doesn’t understand why people care about astrology. He is very excited to be returning to Temple for his third year and looks forward to meeting you on campus! |
![]() | Rachel Kaplan Rachel is the Jewish Campus Service Corps (JCSC) Fellow at the Hillel in Philadelphia. Rachel just moved to Philadelphia from Long Island, New York. She graduated in May with a BA in History from Binghamton University. Rachel was involved with Hillel in college; in fact she met some of her best friends at Shabbat dinner. She is excited to help you have equally great experiences at Hillel. When she is not doing Jewish activities, Rachel has been caught crocheting while watching Grey's and flipping through People magazine (her guilty pleasure) and taking pictures. She is looking forward to getting to know Philadelphia (hopefully without getting too lost) and all of you! |
![]() | Allison Peiser Allison is the rabbinic intern at Temple University and will be starting her third year as a Rabbinical Student at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC). She just returned from spending a year in Israel and is excited to be back in the Philly area for three more years, ending a six year trend of living in any place for a one year stint. Part of those six years were spent completing her BA in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and Sociology at Brandeis, spending her junior year abroad at the University of Haifa, interning in DC for a year and another two years learning in Jerusalem. In her spare time Allison loves discussing TV shows and movies, a product of growing up in Los Angeles. She also enjoys trying different ethnic cuisine. Allison also likes having conversations about Jewish topics and looks forward to meeting new people in the upcoming year. In addition to her work at Temple University, Allison is the intern for Kolot, the Center for Jewish Women's and Gender Studies at RRC. |
