Mentoring & Education Program

Hillel of Greater Philadelphia is always looking for new ways to provide valuable resources for our students, alumni and community members. This is why we created the L.E.A.P.S. Mentoring Program.

L.E.A.P.S. will connect Philadelphia Jewish professionals with local Jewish college students in order to provide career advice, foster professional relationships, and enhance leadership skills.

Hillel of Greater Philadelphia is committed to enriching the lives of students, alumni and the Philadelphia community-at-large through Jewish social, intellectual and cultural experiences.

Why are we doing this?
By reaching out to local Jewish professionals, Hillel will be able to offer students links to the broader Philadelphia Jewish community. It is vital for students to start gaining valuable work-related experiences while still in school. Mentors will be able to help students with their career goals and in connecting to their Jewish roots.

Why should you do this?
L.E.A.P.S. will provide networking opportunities for students to learn about their fields of interest, offer practical job advice, and nurture valuable leadership skills. Mentors will help to shape the career of a student and contribute to the vitality of the Jewish community.

How do we find applicants?
Hillel of Greater Philadelphia is utilizing its strong relationships with Jewish organizations and Jewish alumni in the area to encourage the participation of talented local professionals. On campus, Hillel will extensively market this program in order to reach student participants.

How to apply
Please complete, sign and return the application, together with a résume, to Candy Emerson by email at cemerson@phillyhillel.org, by fax to 215.898.8259, or mail to Hillel of Greater Philadelphia at the address below.

Interview
After an application is submitted, participants will be contacted for an interview with a Hillel professional. The interview will be an opportunity to find out more about the participant's interests and specific mentor/mentee goals.

Matching
Participants will be matched based on similar interests and needs. Once matched, they will be provided with contact information to reach their partner.

Kick-off Event: TBD

At the kick-off event, participants will have an opportunity to meet and interact with their mentor/mentee, network with local professionals, receive valuable materials related to the career planning process, and stay connected to the Jewish community.

Contract/Requirements
After participants are matched, both the mentor/mentee will create a learning contract that includes agreed upon goals and expectations. Participants will develop a meeting schedule that works best for them.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend the workshops and networking events which are held throughout the year. At the end of the year, you will be requested to submit an evaluation form.
