Hillel of Greater Philadelphia serves students through four dynamic program centers. Each of the centers creates a host of opportunities for students throughout the year.

The Campuses

Arcadia University
This small suburban campus has approximately 100 Jewish students. Students enjoy periodic Shabbat dinners and social events, which are often held at the legendary, picturesque castle on campus. Students are encouraged to connect with other Jewish students in the region through the citywide network; Hillel in Philadelphia.

Bryn Mawr College
The 200 Jewish students on this beautiful 1,200-student campus on Philadelphia's Main Line enjoy Jewish life at Bryn Mawr as well as through the Bi-College Hillel community which includes Haverford College. Hillel hosts a variety of dynamic social, educational, political and religious programs — from holiday celebrations to Holocaust Awareness Week as well as social action activities. A new kosher kitchen was opened in Bryn Mawr’s religious life center, and a kosher co-op operates during Passover. The Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies offers a variety of courses, and students can study in Israel during their junior year.

Bucks County Community College
Students are encouraged to participate in citywide events sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Community College of Philadelphia
A few dozen Jewish students on this urban campus of 11,000 students participate in citywide projects and events sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Drexel University
Drexel Hillel is one of the University’s most active student organizations with over 500 Jewish students enrolled. Centrally located in the Creese Student Center, Drexel Hillel enjoys a cozy lounge with a kosher kitchen, television, and office space. Hillel offers weekly social, cultural, spiritual, educational and community service activities, including Shabbat and holiday celebrations and a women’s group. Drexel Hillel student leaders help to inspire and create programs for the citywide network of twelve area schools provided through Hillel in Philadelphia. Activities are held throughout the campus and in the local suburbs. Students are encouraged to attend national Jewish student conferences for which subsidies are often provided. The University offers a Judaic Studies Minor.

Haverford College
The 300 Jewish students on this beautiful campus of 1,100 students in Philadelphia's western suburbs enjoy dynamic social, educational, political and religious programs sponsored by Haverford Hillel as well as by the Bi-Co Hillel which includes Bryn Mawr College. Shabbat dinners, holiday programming, and cultural and intellectual events highlight the monthly program. Kosher food is available on Friday nights and holidays. Several Jewish Studies courses are offered each semester and students have access to Hebrew and Judaic Studies at Bryn Mawr. Students can also take classes at Swarthmore College and the University of Pennsylvania. Students are encouraged to attend national Jewish student conferences and subsidies are often provided.

LaSalle University
Although a Catholic university, LaSalle has a small Jewish population. Jewish students are encouraged to participate in citywide events sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Montgomery County Community College
The handful of Jewish students at this commuter college participate in citywide activities sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Moore College of Art and Design
Hillel in Philadelphia reaches out to Jewish students at Moore and encourages them to participate in citywide leadership opportunities.

Pennsylvania State University, Abington
Approximately 10% of the 3,500 students attending Penn State Abington are Jewish. Students enjoy activities in the surrounding neighborhoods and participate in citywide events sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Students are encouraged to participate in Hillel’s Graduate Student Network.

Philadelphia University
Occasional programs are offered for the handful of Jewish students on this 2,000-student campus in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. Students participate in city-wide activities sponsored by the Hillel in Philadelphia. Kosher food is available upon request, services are held periodically, credits are accepted for study at Israeli institutions and the College provides a Spiritual Development Department.

Saint Joseph's University
Hillel in Philadelphia reaches out to Jewish students at Saint Jo's and encourages them to participate in citywide leadership opportunities.

Swarthmore College
Hillel offers a wide variety of religious, cultural and social activities for the 300 Jewish students on this 1,300-student campus on Philadelphia's western suburbs. The students enjoy weekly Friday night Shabbat services and dinners, holiday observances, bagel brunches, speakers, Jewish learning and performances. A vegetarian kosher kitchen is located in the Interfaith Center and vegetarian foods are always available in the dining center.

Temple University
Activities abound for the 1,350 (1,000 undergraduate, 350 graduate) Jewish students at the University. Hillel offers weekly social, cultural, spiritual, educational and community service activities including Shabbat and holiday celebrations. Activities are held throughout the campus and local suburbs. Students enjoy programs sponsored by the Jewish Greek Council, Israel Advocacy Group, FYSH (First Year Students of Hillel), JOG (Jewish Outdoors Group), Jewish Law Student Association, and Jewish Medical Student Union. Located in the heart of the residential facilities, Temple Hillel offers a student lounge with television, kosher kitchen, Judaic library, and chapel. The University offers a Judaic Studies Major and Minor. Students are encouraged to attend national Jewish student conferences and subsidies are often provided. Temple students lead and enjoy the citywide network of twelve area schools provided through Hillel in Philadelphia.

Thomas Jefferson University
Students are encouraged to participate in Hillel’s Graduate Student Network.

The Art Institute of Philadelphia
Students are encouraged to participate in the citywide network provided through Hillel in Philadelphia.

University of Pennsylvania
A large, active Jewish community enjoys a warm, welcoming environment at the new state-of-the-art Hillel facility, Steinhardt Hall, which is centrally located on this West Philadelphia campus. Spruce College House in the center of the quad also offers a comfortable meeting place for Jewish students on campus. Of the 20,000 students at Penn (10,000 undergraduate, 10,000 graduate), 6,000 are Jewish (3,000 undergraduate, 3,000 graduate). Hillel offers a wide range of Jewish cultural, political, religious, intellectual and social activities and hosts more than 25 student groups, including social action, Jewish theater, Israeli dance and Holocaust education creating a rich and pluralistic Jewish community. Reform, Conservative, Sephardic and Orthodox services are offered weekly and Orthodox services are available daily. Kosher dining, which is part of Penn’s meal plan, is housed in Steinhardt Hall and serves lunch and dinner Monday through Friday as well as Saturday lunch. Hillel offers a variety of Israel trips as well as opportunities to attend local and national Jewish conferences and learning experiences. The Jewish Studies Department offers a full complement of courses and is one of the best in the country.

University of the Arts
Students are encouraged to participate in the citywide network provided through Hillel in Philadelphia.

University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
Although small in number, the 100 Jewish students on this West Philadelphia campus with a total of 1,780 students participate in Jewish life both on and off campus. They enjoy weekly get-togethers and spiritual programs. Students are encouraged to participate in citywide events sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Ursinus College
Students are encouraged to participate in citywide events sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Villanova University
Jewish students are encouraged to participate in citywide events sponsored by Hillel of Greater Philadelphia.

West Chester University
West Chester Hillel is an active student organization planning events for the 400 Jewish students on the 9,500-student campus. Students participate in a variety of monthly programs including bagel brunches, holiday celebrations, and Israel programming. Students also enjoy citywide events sponsored by Hillel in Philadelphia.

Widener University
Located in Chester, a short distance from Philadelphia, Widener University students are encouraged to participate in the activities held at the surrounding campuses.
